Failure to obey stop signs in Burlington, Oakville results in trio of tickets for driver

A three-time repeat offender in Burlington and Oakville will have to reach deep into their pockets for failing to come to a complete stop at stop signs.

Halton Regional Police are hoping the message gets through that a stop sign means stop after handing out two tickets Friday morning (Sept. 9) to the same driver on two separate streets.

This comes after the same driver received a stop sign ticket six weeks ago in Oakville.

Police handed out the first stop sign ticket on Friday to the driver at the intersection Millcroft Park Dr and Clubview Dr. in Burlington.

The same driver than got ticketed again at Millcroft Park Dr. and Taywood Dr.

“Driving habits need to change,” said Halton Regional Police on Twitter. “Full stop, look right, look left. Can’t miss a fully marked cruiser.”

 

With kids across Halton Region making the return to classrooms this week, police are looking to ensure they get a safe start to their school season.

Project Safe Start has been in full effect all week and comes to an today.

“A reminder that Project Safe Start is in full effect this week with an emphasis on zero tolerance enforcement for the fatal four offences,” Halton police said in a tweet.

“Kids are heading back to school today; if you are driving, do so safely and follow the rules of the road.”

This marks the 15th year for the hometown campaign. Drivers are being asked to slow down, watch for community safety zones and follow all traffic laws.
