If you aren’t in the Christmas spirit just yet, we have a feeling that’s about to change.

If you aren’t in the Christmas spirit just yet, we have a feeling that’s about to change.

Why? Because the Downtown Brampton Business Improvement Association (BIA) is about to wow residents with more (and bigger and better) horse and carriage rides than ever before.

Although horse and carriage rides are typically associated with romance–and the holidays are indeed romantic–they’re also perfect for families and even groups of friends who are looking to see more of Brampton’s beautiful (and festive) downtown core from a more unique angle.

Fortunately for horse, Christmas and romance lovers, the rides are here.

According to the BIA, the rides will be happening every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from now until December 24. Better yet, the carriage rides will also be extended during the holiday season from December 26-30 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The rides begin on Main Street South by City Hall in the downtown core.

The BIA is also changing things up a bit and adding a special royal element that will probably go over well with Disney fans.

It’s also using wagons so that more people can enjoy the ride.

“As a special draw this season, the BIA has planned to host three Sundays with free wagon rides featuring a different princess each weekend,” says Andrea Magana, Marketing and Events Specialist with the BIA. “Princess appearances include Princess Anna and Elsa, Cinderella and Belle.”

The carriage rides are a particularly unique draw during the holidays because they’re only available for a limited time and they allow residents to enjoy Brampton’s bright and festive Christmas displays from the comfort of a decidedly historic vehicle.

And because they don’t happen all year round, they tend to book up fast.

“It is recommended to book a reservation in advance to avoid any disappointment,” says Magana.

In terms of pricing, the rides cost $20 per group and hold four to five people. Although the rides are suitable for residents of all ages, the BIA does recommend that children be accompanied by an adult.

As for what you’ll see from the wagon, the horses travel throughout the downtown core giving riders an opportunity to discover some of downtown’s finest shops.

Carriage ride goers also get to see the beautifully decorated holiday store windows and the magic lights all throughout the downtown area.

As for why the carriage rides come back year over year, Magana says that residents often look forward to them.

“The carriage ride feedback has been extremely positive throughout the years and has been a long standing tradition for many,” she says. “Every year, families look forward to our carriage rides and a chance to see the lights and magic of downtown Brampton.”

To avoid waiting in chilly weather, you now have the chance to book online in advance.
