Brampton will be marking Latino Heritage Month with a free festival of food, music and performances in a celebration of the city’s Latino communities.
The second-annual Brampton Latin Festival kicks off this Saturday (Sept. 16) in downtown Brampton.
Residents and guests are invited to Ken Whillans Square for a day of live Latin music and dance performances, or browse goods from a variety of vendors offering Latin food, art, fashion and many other products.
There will also be a family-friendly kid’s zone to keep the young ones busy, and the event starts with a community flag raising in the Square at 2 p.m. with the rest of the festival programming running until 10 p.m.
The free festival is organized in partnership with the Brampton Latinos Association as a way to help residents “learn more about the rich culture and heritage of Latin Canadians.”
The City of Brampton has declared September as Latin Heritage Month, with Mayor Patrick Brown saying the proclamation highlights the city’s mission “to foster a diverse and inclusive environment where all residents, in harmony with the Brampton Latino Association, can thrive and promote cultural understanding and appreciation throughout the city.”
