Motorists using one of Mississauga’s busiest roads over the next several weeks will have to deal with lane closures and traffic delays as work crews complete upgrades to the area.

According to Region of Peel public works officials, traffic signal and curb work is taking place at Dixie Rd. and Aimco Blvd. in the city’s east end in the coming weeks.

That will lead to occasional traffic delays and lane closures, they note.

Additionally, restoration work is taking place on Aimco Blvd., from Creekbank Rd. to Bradco Blvd.

“The Region of Peel will be repairing driveways, roads, curbs, sidewalks and sod (grass) following the replacement of the watermain on Aimco Blvd.,” Peel public works officials said in an online update on work in the area.

The work is expected to continue throughout September and officials say the repairs may be delayed due to contractor availability or weather conditions.

For example, they add, paving cannot take place when the ground is saturated with water and sod replacement cannot go forward in hot, dry weather.

Work is expected to be carried out Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

“We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require your area to be under construction for a longer period of time,” public works officials said in the online project update.
