Expect delays on one of Mississauga’s busiest roads this weekend.

Ongoing work at Dixie Road and Aimco Boulevard will result in lane closures.

Dixie Road at Aimco Boulevard will be reduced to one lane in each direction Friday (Oct. 21) from 7 p.m. to Sunday (Oct. 23) at 7 p.m., according to Peel Region Public Works.

There will be no turns allowed to Aimco Boulevard, and Aimco will be closed at Dixie Road.

“It will not be possible to turn left or right from Dixie Road onto Aimco Boulevard,” the project update reads.

A detour route will be clearly marked with road signs.

Crews have been working in the area since March this year to replace the watermain along Aimco Boulevard, and to improve the intersection at Dixie Road and Aimco Boulevard. The work is required to maintain existing water services and improve the flow of traffic.

This is the final stage of the project and crews will be paving the intersection this weekend.

Residents may also hear noise from the project as the paving work will continue through the night.

“We understand this may cause some inconvenience, but shorter working days would require this area to be under construction for a longer period of time, resulting in longer traffic impacts,” Public Works explains. “We do not anticipate significant noise above normal daytime levels during these operations. Efforts will be made to reduce impacts to local residents as much as possible.”
