You don’t need to travel downtown to attend a sophisticated, one-of-a-kind event that will feature an appearance from a local artist who has performed for former U.S. President Barack Obama.

Mississauga residents (and residents from all over) can check out the three-year anniversary art bash for The Open Gallery at The Studio Paint Bar in Mississauga on Feb. 28.

The Open Gallery is a mobile pop-up and gallery based out of Mississauga that was founded by Hibah Mian, who works to showcase and provide a platform for young and emerging artists.

The event, which will kick off at 8:00 pm, will feature the talents of DJ Musiqah and Tisania Smith, a spoken word artist who has performed for Obama himself. Attendees can also enjoy a performance from Lexxicon, an up and coming dancehall artist from Toronto, as well as performances from singers and rappers from Mississauga.

The Studio Paint Bar, Mississauga’s first-ever paint and wine bar, says the art bash will highlight a poetry exhibition by Sana Jaffery, as well as other artists who have been involved with The Open Gallery since it starting programming in 2017.

The Studio Paint Bar is best known for providing one-of-a-kind art night experiences, including paint and wine nights, crit nights, art clubs, and more.

The venue will serve fine wines, beers, spirits and speciality cocktails all night long.

“The party will be a unique experience to the Mississauga arts community and highlights the diversity of urban artists across the GTA,” The Open Gallery said in a statement.
