Police have suspended a Brampton driver after he allegedly was clocked going over 180 km/h near Kingston on the weekend.

The OPP says officers were watching for speeders on the weekend in the area of Hwy 401 and Palace Rd. in Napanee, about 40 kilometres west of Kingston.

Officers nabbed a few speedsters going over 150 km/h, but police say it was a driver from Brampton who topped the list after he was clocked going 181 km/h around 3:00 a.m. on Sunday (April 2).

Police say the 21-year-old male driver from Brampton was charged with one count of Dive motor vehicle – perform stunt – excessive speed.

The accused had his licence suspended for 30 days and the vehicle was impounded for 14 days. The driver is scheduled to appear at the Provincial Offences Court in Greater Napanee at a later date.

The OPP says it is committed to safety for everyone on Ontario’s roadways and says members of the public are urged to report stunt driving, aggressive driving, or careless driving by calling police at 1-888-310-1122.
