ex-employee accused of strealing electronics from Pickering business

An ex-employee is facing charges after police say he broke into the office of a financial services company in Pickering on “multiple occasions” and allegedly stole more than $22,000 in electronics.

Durham Regional Police responded to a break-and-enter call at a financial business at Liverpool Road and Pickering Parkway last month after staff received notifications that an ex-employee was using a stolen key fob to access the business office.

Further investigation revealed that between April and May the suspect had used the stolen key fob to access the office multiple times to steal electronic valued in excess of $22,000.

Investigators from the West Crime Team, with the assistance of the Community Resource Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence in Oshawa Friday. The suspect was located near the residence and taken into custody.

Oluwaloseyitan Jermaine Kentebe, 35, is charged with break-and-enter and possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000.

He was released on an Undertaking.

Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact D/Cst. Sheridan of the West Crime Team at 1-888-579-1520 ext. 1905.
