Although you’re probably excited about the holidays, you might be wondering what services will be delayed or unavailable during some of the most festive days of the year.

According to the city, many Brampton offices, including City Hall, will be closed to the public starting on Friday, Dec. 23 at 12:00 p.m. They will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017 at 8:30 a.m.

Note that you will not be able to apply in person for marriage licenses, pay parking fines or apply for permits during this time. That said, essential services will continue to operate normally, including fire and emergency services and by-law enforcement.

While that’s all important housekeeping to keep note of, there are some fun things happening in relation to the holidays. According to the city, pet adoption gift certificates are now available for purchase. While this might seem a little strange, a companion could make life happier for a friend or relative who has the time, desire and resources to care for a pet. While that may seem restrictive, it should please you to hear that service will be free (as it should be) on New Year’s Eve. New Year’s Eve Service on all routes begins at 7:00 p.m. on December 31 and includes extended service on some routes.
