To promote charitable giving for Mississauga Gives' first Giving Tuesday, the Art Gallery of Mississauga will partner with Interim place to sew linens for the brave women who are leaving the shelter to start new lives. Volunteers are invited to a join a sewing circle at the gallery to assist with making the biggest impact possible! The AGM is also seeking donations of fabric and materials. Contact the gallery if you are interested in donating for this event. Volunteers are encouraged to bring any sewing needles or supplies they may have and limited materials will be available at the Gallery.
Interim Place has been providing shelter and support services for women in Peel Region who face violence for over 32 years. Since 1981 Interim Place has assisted well over 40,000 women and children over the years find safety, heal and build new lives free of abuse. The goal of the organization is to end violence against women through; responsive, accessible, services and supports, public education and action and advocacy to address the social, economic and political conditions that create violence in the lives of women and children.
