Folks from the QTBIPOC meetup are coming together for a picnic on August 6th (Rain Date: August 13) and invite other QTBIPOC folks to join us as well!
We’ll be meeting in a private location 5 minutes from Hurontario and Eglinton.
It’s hard to believe that we’ve been meeting for 6 months already but also feels amazing to be planning an event together. We’ll have a BBQ, arts activities (by Krafty Queers), performances, open mic and choir karaoke and much more.
Note that the location of this event will remain private (similar to our meetups) so please get in touch using info below.
Who is this picnic for?
-folks who identify as part of LGBTTIQQ2SA communities
-folks who identify as Black, Indigenous and/or a person of colour
- The picnic is in a backyard so can be physically accessible (all grass) but unfortunately the house/bathrooms are not accessible
- Gender Neutral Washrooms in the house
- Low-scent Environment - please come scent free*
- Bring your kids, if you’d like
- Dry event with harm reduction principles**
- ASL Interpretation can be available, if requested (sooner the better to ensure ability to confirm an interpreter)

*SCENT-REDUCED: Many folks have chemical sensitivities and are not able to be in spaces with fragrance. Please come fragrance free or at minimum, please refrain from wearing cologne, perfume, essential oils and products containing them. Here’s some great information on how to be scent free: http://www.brownstargirl.org/1/post/2012/03/fragrance-free-femme-of-colo...
. If you are smoking that night, it would be great if you could spend an extra 10 minutes outside after finishing your cigarette, take off your jacket and wash your hands before re-entering the space.
**DRY EVENT WITH HARM REDUCTION PRINCIPLES: There won’t be alcohol or substance at the event and we encourage folks to not bring any either. We do not judge substance use of any kind and recognize that substance use makes it possible for some people to participate in spaces and being substance-free isn’t always realistic. We will not turn anyone away from the space, unless your safety or the safety of others is compromised.
