Etobicoke resident threatened to shoot driver in road rage incident: police

Police in Caledon have charged an Etobicoke resident with assault, uttering threats and drug offences after an alleged road rage incident on the weekend.

Around 4:00 p.m. on Saturday (Feb. 20), police say several vehicles were stuck in a snow drift in the area of Mayfield Road and Chinguacousy Road in Caledon.

Police say two of the drivers got into an argument after a minor collision, and one of the drivers threatened to shoot the other with a firearm located in their vehicle.

The driver fled the scene, but police say they located the driver who was arrested by officers.

Police say no firearms were found, but a 31 year old from Etobicoke was charged with:

  • Assault
  • Possession of a Schedule I substance – Opioid
  • Uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm
  • Drive vehicle with cannabis readily available

Police have not yet released the name of the accused. They are scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Orangeville on May 2 to answer to the charges.
