dangerous driver tries to escape police in Brampton hits a traffic sign

A man has been arrested after driving dangerously with other vehicles in a parking lot plaza in Brampton last year.

On Tuesday (Oct. 31), Peel Regional Police say they responded to College Plaza located at 545 Steeles Ave W., after receiving multiple calls about vehicles driving erratically within the parking lot.

Officers say they spoke with Gurprit Singh (26) from Brampton about operating a Black Jeep Wrangler in a dangerous manner.

Following the brief interaction with police, Singh sped away while accelerating recklessly through a crowded parking lot and striking a traffic sign in his attempt to avoid arrest.

An arrest warrant was issued for Singh, who was taken into custody by officers on Tuesday (March 26), 2024.

Authorities say Singh is charged with multiple criminal offences including dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, obstructing a peace officer, and flight from a peace officer.

Singh was held in custody for a bail hearing.

Deputy Chief Marc Andrews commended the officers’ dedication to pursuing drivers who compromise community safety. He stated, “Those who try to flee from our officers will face the full extent of our investigative efforts and will be located. We will not stop until we find you.”
