The March Break may have parents thinking about summertime activities for their children, and there is an opportunity for the kids to be enriched in one of southern Ontario’s most spectacular natural environments.

Registration has opened for the Adventures in the Valley Summer Camp, which Hamilton Conservation Authority holds in the Dundas Valley Conservation Area from July to early August. The one-week day camps (9 a.m. till 4 p.m.) are led by HCA’s Environmental Education staff, who take children from ages 7 through 11 through opportunities to discover and explore the plants and animals that call the Dundas Valley home.

“Throughout the week we will hike the trails, investigate nature artifacts, make crafts, and play lots of games,” says HCA.

“We structure the day to have a morning and afternoon snack break, as well as lunch,” HCA adds. “Our programming throughout the week will be guided by the interests and curiosities of the campers, so no two days will look exactly the same. Each day will involve lots of time outdoors, rain or shine, so be sure to come prepared.”

Registration for each week is $300 plus HST, and there are four weeks available on a first-come, first-served basis (July 10-14, July 17-21, July 24-28, and July 31-Aug. 4, ahead of the Civic Holiday weekend).

The registration forms, answers to frequently asked questions, and further information is available at conservationhamilton.ca.
