Emu dies after an attack by 2 unknown culprits on an Ontario farm: police

An emu was found dead after an attack on an Ontario farm.

The incident happened on a farm in the Fisherville area, a community south of Hamilton yesterday (March 13), OPP said in a press release.

Police say two unknown people damaged a fence to enter a closed animal pen on the farm between 3 a.m. and 3:30 a.m. yesterday.

Once inside, the people injured the emu by an unknown means and the animal died.

The two individuals then fled the area.

Police said they are reviewing surveillance video to help identify the people responsible.

Causing unnecessary suffering to an animal is a criminal offence that carries a penalty of up to five years in jail upon conviction.
