A group of employees from an Oakville-based hygiene and health company took to their bikes in the fight against breast cancer.

Taking part in Essity Rides 2022, the 11 workers from Essity Canada cycled over 700 km in five days to help raise over $43,000 in the fundraising initiative aimed at raising funds for breast cancer research.

With a goal of raising between $25,000 and $40,000, the 11 cyclists left the company’s Drummondville manufacturing site on Friday, Sept. 9 at 8 a.m. and would arrive at the company’s head office in Oakville, located at 1275 North Service Rd., on Tuesday, Sept. 13.

Riding approximately 140 kilometres per day, the “enthusiastic” group took a route that included going through Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Cornwall, Brockville, Kingston, Belleville, Trenton, Cobourg, Whitby and Toronto before arriving in Oakville.

Essity Canada specializes in hygiene and health products and employs over 48,000 employees in 150 countries.
