Indie musicians looking for an edge in the industry can apply for a business development program in Hamilton.
The City of Hamilton is running an Indie Musician Development Program to help local musicians grow their business.
Successful applicants will get three hours of individualized business/career development assistance from a Hamilton-based music business.
City of Hamilton staff will connect successful applicants with one of the Hamilton-based music businesses that have been hired to coach and guide developing or emerging musicians.
These sessions can include marketing/branding, tour planning, fan/audience development and engagement, and/or business planning. Applicants can choose to focus on the topics they need the most help on in the sessions.
The sessions — three one-hour meetings — can be in-person or virtual calls.
Musicians must live in Hamilton (including Ancaster, Dundas, Stoney Creek, Waterdown etc.) or have at least 50 per cent of band members living in the city. You must be practising music part or full time as a career and be at least 16 years old.
Prospective musicians can find out more and apply on the City of Hamilton website. The program will close when spaces are filled or by Oct. 29.
