Emergency crews respond to explosion at golf course in Ontario

Emergency crews responded to an explosion at a golf course in Ontario on Wednesday that left a man critically injured.

Ontario Provincial Police said officers from the Peterborough County detachment, as well as emergency medical service and firefighters, responded to the incident at around 3 p.m.

It happened at a golf course on Villiers Line in Otonabee-South Monaghan, which is east of Peterborough.

OPP said there was a propane explosion at the course, but didn’t provide additional details on the nature of the explosion.

A 63-year-old man from Warkworth was taken from the scene by ambulance before he was airlifted to a Toronto-area hospital.

He was reported to have life-threatening injuries.

“The investigation into the explosion is ongoing and the Ministry of Labour, Immigration, Training and Skills Development has been notified,” OPP said.

“No further information is available at this time.”
