Emergency Alert Ontario

If you get an alert soon, try not to panic.

Residents should note that an emergency test by Alert Ready is set to occur across the province around noon on Wednesday, May 15.

According to the Ontario government, this test will occur at 12:55 p.m. on smartphones, radios, and TVs.

Alert Ready also has similar tests set in other provinces and territories for May 8.

Alert Ready is Canada’s government-sanctioned national public alerting system. According to its website, the alert system is purpose-built to provide Canadians in all provinces and territories with vital information in the event of a potential emergency.

These emergencies can include — but are not limited to — drought, extreme heat, floods, forest fires, thunderstorms and nuclear incidents.

According to Alert Ready, this string of tests will run alongside Canada’s Emergency Preparedness Week, designed to raise awareness of community safety while educating on specific emergencies that can occur nationwide.
