The slightly cooler weather this week has been a boon to those wanting to take a late summer dip this long weekend as just two beaches have been posted as unsafe for swimming due to high readings of e-coli.

Bowmanville Beach East failed its weekly water sampling test, as did Kinsmen Beach at Palmer Park on Lake Scugog. Kinsmen Beach also had high counts of blue-green algae in addition to its e-coli readings.

All three beaches on Lake Simcoe – Beaverton North, Beaverton South and Thorah Centennial Park – passed with flying colours, as did Bowmanville West and Newcastle Central Beach in Clarington.

Both Oshawa Beaches – Lakeview Beach East and Lakeview Beach West – passed, as did Whitby Beach and Paradise Beach in Ajax. Frenchman’s Bay East was deemed safe for swimming, but Frenchman’s Bay West was not tested because of current construction and restricted public access.
