A new staple of casual dining has opened in downtown Toronto.
Bar Romy, a new Italian dining location, has opened its doors amid the hustle and bustle of Adelaide St. in the epicentre of Toronto’s urban core.
However, unlike most restaurants in the area, known for fine dining and power lunches, Bar Romy is trying to infuse the area with a casual vibe without sacrificing any flair, as the neighbourhood it calls home — The Entertainment District — features many diverse dining nooks.
According to its website and Instagram page, Bar Romy’s corner location excels at refined yet laid-back takes on pizza, panini, pastas, and a huge selection of wine.
The menu includes dynamic in-house cocktails, featuring selections like the ‘Kiss & Tell,’ with tequila. Campari, coconut purée and cream, all shaken with egg white and finished with lipstick lips, or the ‘Matcha Colada,’ a take on the modern beverage craze featuring rum, pineapple, coconut and matcha cream.

As for dining fare, Bar Romy sticks to its guns and offers a curated selection of modern Italian-American cuisine.
Appetizers range from classics like beet and arugula salads to fresh ricotta and polenta, and the iconic prosciutto di Parma.
Pizzas include classics like the fungi and margherita, while pushing the envelope with a cacio e pepe-style pie, as well as alla vodka — to name just a few.
Pastas come with a huge selection of varieties, including a farfallone with smoked pancetta and Calabrian chilli, a lasagne verde with veal bolognese and pecorino, and the seafood classic, taglierini alle vongole.

As for mains, or ‘secondi,’ Bar Romy maintains its focus on classic and relaxed dining with steak, veal, and risotto.
While Bar Romy has its work cut out for it, as its corner spot sits in a highly competitive nook of Toronto’s dining landscape, its retro interior, cascading wine pillars, and easygoing vibe are sure to shake things up a bit.
Aiming to be a break from the noise of downtown Toronto, Bar Romy is officially open as of today (July 2) and is located at 295 Adelaide St. W.
