Elderly woman dead, 3 injured in head-on collision in Oshawa

A serious crash in north Oshawa on Monday has killed one person and injured three more.

At 3:40 pm. on Monday, April 10, police responded to a head-on collision between two vehicles on Simcoe Street North near Howden Road.

Police say a northbound Volkswagen and a southbound Nissan crashed directly into each other.

“The female driver of the Nissan was airlifted to a Toronto-area trauma centre where she remains in serious condition,” said police. “The front passenger of the Nissan, a 70-year-old female, was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced deceased as a result of her injuries.”

The male driver of the Volkswagen and a male rear passenger in the Nissan was both transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Officers attended the scene to investigate, closing roads in the area for several hours.

Police have not confirmed the cause of the collision at this time.
