Update: Man, 77, suffers ‘critical’ injuries while crossing street in Hamilton

A 77-year-old man is in “life-threatening condition” in hospital after he was struck by an SUV driven by a 91-year-old man Tuesday on Hamilton Mountain.

The SUV driver was not injured.

“The pedestrian was treated for critical injuries sustained in the collision and remains in hospital in life-threatening condition,” Hamilton police said in a press release.

The incident occurred today (July 25) at about 10:22 a.m. when the pedestrian was crossing the road on Fennell Avenue East, between Hoover Crescent and Upper Wellington Street. The man had a walker when he was hit by the car, police said.

The HPS Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating the incident. A stretch of Fennell Avenue East was closed for several hours earlier Tuesday for the investigation.
