Eight new COVID-19 cases were reported in Durham Region Tuesday, with half of the cases coming from Oshawa. The number of active cases remained stable at 44.

Whitby enjoyed its fourth straight day with zero new cases and Ajax, as well as the three northern communities of Uxbridge, Brock and Scugog, were also COVID-free.

Orono Public School, with one student home self-isolating, is the only school outbreak reported and there are no outbreaks at the region’s long-term care homes. One outbreak in an office building is still on the books.

The fully vaccinated rate for the 12-plus population is now 83.1 per cent.
