There were eight new COVID-19 cases reported over the weekend by Niagara Regional Health.

Six cases were reported Saturday (July 24) with another two listed for Sunday.

Sadly, two Niagara Region residents passed away on the weekend from the virus, bringing the Region to 420 deaths since the pandemic began in Canada in mid-March 2020.

However, two municipalities with Niagara are presently virus-free as zero cases were reported in both Fort Erie and Niagara-on-the-Lake.

On the other side of the coin, St Catharines still has 18 active cases while Niagara Falls has 10 to report.

The region presently sits at 47 active cases.
