Hamilton Police are asking the public for help in locating a suspect wanted in connection to a hit-and-run that sent a man to hospital early Friday (July 16).

Police said they were called shortly after 2:30 a.m. to the area of Woodward Avenue at Walmer Road in East Hamilton to reports of a hit-and-run involving a car and cyclist.

A woman and a man were reportedly riding southbound on Woodward in the bike lane when a car travelling in the same direction struck the man and fled the area.

The man was taken to hospital where he was assessed and found to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

In the meantime, police are looking to identify the suspect vehicle and its driver and are turning to residents in the area for help.

“We are appealing to the public, for anyone with information to contact police and residents in the area to check their cameras to see if they may have captured anything that may lead to police locating the involved suspect,” Hamilton Police Const. Indy Bharaj told IntheHammer in an email.

“We ask anyone with information to please contact the Division 2 Patrol Staff Sergeant’s Office at 905-546-2963.”
