An early morning fire at a waste management facility in Bowmanville severely damaged several company vehicles, with investigators declaring it “too early” to determine if the blaze was suspicious.
Fire crews and police responded to a fire at GFL Environmental Police at Lake Road and Britton Court at 2:30 a.m. Friday after several vehicles were reported to be “engulfed in flames.”
Onlookers reported that smoke and flames could be seen from Highway 401 just to the north.

Clarington Fire were on the scene quickly and were able to douse the blaze but police said the vehicles were “severely damaged.”
“At this time, it is too early to determine whether the fire was suspicious in nature or not,” a spokesman for DRPS said.
The investigation remains ongoing, and investigators are appealing for any information or video from the area.Durham Regional Police are requesting the public’s assistance for information on the blaze and is asking anyone who was in the area with cellphone, dash cam, surveillance footage, or any information about this incident to come forward and speak with investigators.
