E-scooter crash leaves boy, 12, with life-threatening injuries in Toronto

Two 12-year-old boys have been injured and one is in life-threatening condition following a crash on an e-scooter in Toronto.

The crash happened around 1:30 p.m. on Friday near Dundas Street West and The East Mall, the Toronto Police Service says.

Two young boys were riding the scooter when they lost control for unknown reasons, police say. Initial reports said the two 12-year-old victims were hit by a vehicle, but police later clarified there was no other vehicle involved in the crash.

One of the boys suffered life-threatening injuries while the other sustained non-life-threatening injuries.

Police have closed The East Mall in both directions between Vickers Road and Coronet Road, and drivers should avoid the area while officers are on the scene.
