Durham reports 26 new COVID-19 cases; ten from Ajax

Durham Region Health reported 26 new cases of COVID-19 Monday, with Ajax residents making up 10 of those positive cases.

Whitby joins the relatively sparsely populated northern communities of Uxbridge, Scugog and Brock in reporting zero new cases.

The other new cases came from Oshawa (8), Pickering (6) and Clarington (2), with the total active caseload at 195.

Most new cases were of the Delta variant, with the total number of reported cases of this highly contagious variant now at 426.

Nine people remain in hospital with three in ICU.
