The Durham District School Board has reached an agreement with four CUPE Local 218 bargaining units representing educational assistants, custodians, Continuing Education and office/clerical/technical staff at the board.

Both parties have ratified the agreement though CUPE has not released a statement and have not returned messages. It is also unclear if the deal covers all support staff at the Durham school board.

CUPE Local 218 represents 3,700 education workers for both the Durham public and Catholic school boards.

“These new agreements recognize the invaluable contributions of our support staff and administrative personnel in shaping the educational journey of our students,” said Donna Edwards, Chair of the Durham District School Board of Trustees. “These [agreements] showcase the power of working together to achieve common goals and will benefit everyone in our school community by helping to foster an environment of collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.”
