Police have begun to release details about the fatal shooting in Ajax early Thursday morning.

Officers were called to Pembry Drive around 4:30 in the morning about an armed person spotted in the area.  When they arrived they found only the victim, an as yet unidentified 33-year-old, suffering multiple gunshot wounds.

The victim was rushed to a Toronto trauma centre, but succumbed to his wounds and was pronounced dead in hospital.

No charges have been filed and, according to DRPS Media Officer Sgt. George Tudos, no suspect description is available.

This is the seventh murder in Durham Region this year and the second this month, following the killing of Ruth Humphries on November 2.

The investigation continues. Police are asking anyone with security footage or information to contact Det. Graham of the Major Crime Homicide Unit at 1-888-579-1520 ext.5418.
