Durham Police arrest a man for 20 break-and-enters from Oshawa to Pickering

Durham Region Police arrested an Oshawa man in connection with 20 commercial break-ins across Durham Region over the past three months.

Police allege the man broke into the properties, causing damage and stealing cash and other items from locations in Ajax, Oshawa, Pickering and Whitby from August to October 2021.

Officers from several Property Crime units in multiple divisions had to collaborate to make the arrest.

Roger Prosper, 50, faces 63 charges, including possession of a break-in instrument, possession of proceeds of crime under $5,000, failure to comply with probation order, fail to comply with release order, break and enter with intent and possession for the purpose of trafficking for fentanyl police seized during the arrest.

Prosper will remain in custody until a bail hearing.
