Durham COVID cases tick up to nine new cases, Oshawa reports four new cases after a zero day

While rates of COVID-19 infections continue to trend downwards, the Region reported nine new cases today. This is a small uptick over the six new cases announced yesterday.
New cases peaked last Thursday, October 7, when 24 new cases were reported. Cases fell to 13 on Friday, jumped to 21 on Saturday and fell to seven, and six the next two days.
However, the total number of active cases continues to fall as people recover. There are now 95 active cases throughout the Region. Three people remain in hospital with two in Intensive Care.
Two outbreaks are ongoing at Glen Hill Terrace Long Term Care Home and White Cliffe Retirement Residence. Two of the five people infected at Glen Hill Terrace are isolating, while the other three have resolved. One person from White Cliffe is in hospital, while three more isolate.
Meanwhile, four outbreaks continue in Durham Schools. One person who attends Ajax Early Learning Child Care and two people from Ajax’s Pringle Creek Public school are in isolation.
All cases from Adelaide McLaughlin Public in Oshawa and St. George’s School in Ajax have been resolved.
