A 35-year veteran educator, consultant and administrator has been chosen as the new Superintendent of Education for the Durham Catholic District School Board (DCDSB).

Hader Ibrahim joins DCDSB from the Ministry of Education, where he has been an Education Officer since 2015. As part of this role, he recently completed a special assignment as the French Language Department member of the provincial curriculum writing team for the new De-Streamed Grade 9 Math course.

“His expertise and extensive experience at the Ministry and in school leadership will be a great asset to our Senior Administrative Team,” said DCDSB Director of Education Tracy Barill. “Mr. Ibrahim brings a deep commitment to Catholic education, equity and the establishment of positive relationships to foster inclusive learning environments.”

During his time at the Ministry of Education Ibrahim has been involved with a variety of portfolios, including Equity and Inclusive Education; French as a Second Language; Renewed Mathematics Strategy; Education, Statistics and Analysis; Teacher Qualifications, and Leadership, Collaboration and Governance.

Prior to joining the Ministry, Ibrahim – who is trilingual in English, French and Arabic – was a Secondary School Principal in Toronto with the French Catholic District School Board.

“I look forward to working with the dedicated leadership team and strengthening the board’s strategic commitments of excellence, equity and engagement, while focusing on student success and well-being,” he said.
