Dump truck explosions in Caledon under arson investigation

An arson investigation is underway after seven dump trucks exploded in Caledon last month.

Just before 3:00 a.m. on Friday, April 20, the Caledon OPP say an officer was conducting speed enforcement in the area of Mayfield Rd. and Coleraine Dr. in Caledon when they observed smoke.

When the officer went to investigate they found a dump truck fully engulfed in flames at a business on Coleraine Dr.

Police say there was a “series of explosions” and seven dump trucks were destroyed, while an eighth dump truck was damaged.

The incident is part of an ongoing arson investigation and police are asking anyone with information to contact the Caledon OPP at 905-284-2241 or 1-888-310-1122.
