Dump truck crash and fuel spill sees charge for Brampton driver

Police have charged a Brampton driver following a crash between two dump trucks and a fuel spill near Barrie last week.

Just before 9:00 a.m. on Friday (May 19), the OPP says there was a two-vehicle collision on Line 9 North in the Township of Oro-Medonte, around 16 kilometres east of Barrie.

When officers arrived they found two dump trucks crash and said one was damaged, spilling diesel fuel onto the roadway. Police say one of the dump trucks was trying to cross Old Barrie Rd. when the crash happened.

No injuries were reported but a 27-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with one count of:

  • Start from stopped position – not in safety.

Police closed part of the roadway while clean-up crews and investigators were on the scene.
