Niagara Police say they found drugs on a pair suspected of stealing from a Grimsby-area Shoppers Drug Mart on January 10.

The police responded to a possible theft-in-progress call at the drug store on St. Andrews Avenue and quickly captured the suspects.

However, a subsequent search of one suspect, as well as her car, turned up a large quantity of drugs.

On January 10, 2022, 8 District Grimsby uniform officers responded to a possible theft in progress at Shoppers Drug on St. Andrews Avenue in Grimsby.

Police say the drugs are suspected to be fentanyl, crystal meth, prescription narcotics and cocaine, pegging the street value of the drugs at $22,000.  Officers also seized $730, suspecting that it’s crime cash.

Lukas Latka, 29, of Grimsby has been charged with theft under $5,000.

Lynn Marcoux, 52, of Welland, has been charged with four counts of drug possession for the purpose of trafficking and one count of holding crime cash.

Latka was released with a future court date while Macoux was held in custody and attended a video bail hearing yesterday (January 11) in St. Catharines. She was released with a future court date of February 17, 2022.

Anyone who may have information about this incident are asked to contact the 8 District officers at 905-688-4111, extension 1025400.
