Two men are facing charges after drugs were allegedly discovered during a traffic stop in Niagara Falls.

Niagara police say that around 9:20 am on April 11, officers stopped a 2006 grey Chevrolet Avalance that was travelling west on Monroe St. toward Franklin Ave. Police say the vehicle was stopped because it was not registered with the Ministry of Transportation.

According to police, both the driver and passenger attempted to walk away from the vehicle after it was stopped on Franklin Ave. Police say the driver was arrested and the passenger returned to the vehicle.

Police allege officers discovered illegal drugs on the driver and in the vehicle, including crystal meth and fentanyl. Police also allege that break-in instruments, such as two-way radios, flashlights, binoculars and power tools, were found.

Police say Niagara Falls man Gerald Douglas Caines, 53, and Niagara Falls man Matthew James Robert Graham, 41, were arrested and charged with a number of offences.

Both suspects were released and are scheduled to appear in court on June 15.
