An open alcohol container in a car’s centre console led to a lot more during a routine traffic stop in St. Catharines on Sept. 15.

When police pulled over the car on Carlton St. near Shakespeare Ave., the officer instantly noticed the open alcohol and asked the driver to step out.

Once he did, two small clear plastic baggies with suspected fentanyl were seen between the driver’s seat and the floorboard so the driver was instantly arrested.

However, it was the search of the vehicle where 17.8 grams of suspected purple fentanyl, 18.7 grams of suspected green fentanyl, and 18.4 grams of suspected cocaine were found, along with $1,245 in suspected crime cash. (See below.)

Roshawn Eric Palmer, 33, of Toronto, is now facing three counts of illegal drugs for trafficking and one count of suspected crime cash under $5,000. He was also charged for the open alcohol in the car.

He remains in custody after a bail hearing on Sept. 16 at the John Sopinka Courthouse in Hamilton.
