Drug charges for Mississauga and Whitby women after traffic stop

A traffic stop near North Bay has ended in drug trafficking and other charges for a pair of women from Mississauga and Whitby.

On April 13, 2023, shortly before 3:00 a.m., members of the North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) were patrolling Highway 17 in Bonfield when they witnessed a speeding driver.

Police pulled the driver over and say there were two occupants inside the vehicle. During the investigation, police say they found cocaine, opioids, and stolen property.

A 31-year-old driver from Mississauga and a 33-year-old passenger from Whitby were arrested and charged with drug and other offences.

Aliya Osborne, 31, of Mississauga has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid.
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.
  • Drive motor vehicle -perform stunt – excessive speed.
  • Drive vehicle or boat with cannabis readily available.

Adrienna Luke, 33, of Whitby has been charged with:

  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine.
  • Possession of a schedule I substance for the purpose of trafficking – opioid.
  • Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court.
  • Possession of property obtained by crime under $5000.

The accused were held for bail and were scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in North Bay on April 21. None of the allegations have been proven in court.
