Drowned swimmer identified as 14-year-old from Mississauga

Provincial police say a teenager who drowned in Guelph Lake over the weekend was a resident from Mississauga.

At 6:15 p.m. on Sunday, July 31, OPP received a report of a swimmer in distress near the island in Guelph Lake at the Guelph Lake Conservation Area.

“At approximately 7:30 p.m., the swimmer was located and was transported to a local hospital where they were pronounced deceased,” said police.

The deceased has been identified as 14 year old Hilal Ahmad Najeebi from Mississauga.

No further information has been shared by police at this time.

Two weeks prior, a similar incident at the lake resulted in police recovering the body of 21 year old Rayan Kaber, also from Mississauga.
