The victim of a road rage incident in Brampton is now seeking to identify the angry driver who allegedly smashed his window.

The incident happened at around 12:50 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 17, according to the male victim who has asked not to be identified.

The victim was going westbound on Bovaird near Hurontario when he noticed a beige Chrysler driving erratically, speeding, and attempting to pass other vehicles.

According to the victim, the speeding vehicle ran a red light behind him. It’s alleged that the driver then opened his window and threw an object at the victim’s vehicle, shattering his driver side window, before speeding off.

“Luckily I was able to maintain control of my vehicle and not cause a serious accident,” said the Orangeville resident, who was on his way to his office in Brampton.

The victim says he was covered in glass but was not injured.

He dialed 911 while attempting to pursue the driver, who allegedly pulled into the parking lot of a nearby government office, but lost sight of the driver while explaining the situation to the 911 operator.

“I was upset, I wanted to get his information and say hey, you just damaged my vehicle,” he said in a statement to Insauga. “If you were upset that’s one thing, but there’s no need to take it to this level. But he had taken off.”

He says he attempted to report the incident at a police precinct but was told there was nothing police could do at the time, especially since he lacked video of the incident occurring, and was told to report the incident via their non-emergency number.

Since then, he has shared details of the incident on social media in the hopes that any witnesses or businesses in the area may have video footage.

“This driver could of (sic) caused a serious accident and/or killed someone so if you have ANY information, please reach out to me so I can pass this information to the authorities,” he wrote in the comments of a recent Reddit post.

Police have corroborated his account, saying they were called for the incident at approximately 12:55 p.m. No officers attended the area, and the victim was told to report the incident at a Collision Reporting Centre.

The victim says he still isn’t sure what was thrown at his window, but assumes it was something like a glass bottle. He also isn’t ruling out the possibility of a gunshot, but says he hasn’t located a bullet or any other evidence.

He’s hoping to identify the driver, who he has described as a young East Indian man, 20 to 30 years old, possibly with a goatee.

No details regarding the suspect have been confirmed by police at this time.
