QEW lanes closed mississauga.

Motorists travelling through a busy intersection in Brampton will face longer-than-expected traffic delays.

Peel Region says temporary lane reductions currently in place at Williams Parkway and Dixie Road have been extended until Friday, June 5, as work continues on a watermain replacement project.

The construction has reduced Williams Parkway to a single lane in both eastbound and westbound directions at the Dixie Road intersection.

The work initially began on May 19 and was scheduled to wrap up by May 29, but regional officials have now extended the traffic impacts by another week.

Peel Region says the project is part of its broader watermain replacement program aimed at maintaining reliable water service while expanding infrastructure to support future population growth.

“This work is required to keep providing you with high-quality water services to the community,” the region said in a notice to residents and motorists.

Drivers are being warned to expect delays and are encouraged to use alternate routes where possible.

Regional officials are also reminding motorists, cyclists and pedestrians to use extra caution around the construction zone by slowing down and watching for crews and other road users.
