Durham Police were out in full force Tuesday across the region and while they were appreciative of the lack of impaired drivers found – a stint on Island Road in Scugog discovered no violators at all – the speeders, that’s another story.

Police ticketed a number of drivers for speeding 40 or more kilometres faster than the posted limit (with the appropriate charges laid), with one caught doing 108 in a 60 with no licence or proof of insurance.

One driver in Scugog was caught by radar doing 163 km/hr in a posted 60 km/hr zone, just out of a 50 km/hr zone.

That’s a hefty fine, along with a 14 day impound for the vehicle, a 30 day suspension for the driver’s license and a collection of charges to look at while waiting for a ride home.
