Driver in life threatening condition after collision in Hamilton

Hamilton Police Service are investigating a major collision that happened last night (July 1) in Hamilton.

Police say they received reports at approximately 11:30 p.m. that two northbound vehicles collided at the intersection of Upper James St. and Inverness Ave.

A 31-year-old man from Hamilton was rear-ended when he stopped at a red light.

The man remains in critical condition in hospital.

The driver of the other vehicle attempted to flee the scene but was later apprehended by police.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit is investigating due to the nature of the injuries.

Police say speed and/or impairment have not been ruled out as factors in this collision.
