Driver in Burlington caught going 162 km/h with young children in vehicle

A 32-year-old driver was pulled over on Hwy 407 for reportedly travelling 162 km/h with two young children in the vehicle.

An OPP officer in Burlington shared a photo of the speed radar Wednesday (Aug. 19) afternoon.

Comments on Twitter showed concern for the offender’s children.

According to the Ontario Traffic Act, drivers who travel more than 50 km/h over the speed limit could face 6 demerit points, an immediate 7-day license suspension and vehicle impounding; a 2-year license suspension, 6 months in jail, a maximum fine of $2,000, and a 100 per cent insurance increase.
