Complaints and traffic delays led police to a driver hauling an entire trailer inside a boat on an Ontario highway.
Drivers alerted police to a van towing a boat with several unsecured items in the back around 8 p.m. travelling on Highway 416 in Township of Edwardsburgh/Cardinal, south of Ottawa, on Wednesday (July 10), OPP said in a post on X.
Officers found the van travelling at a much slower speed and causing traffic to back up, police said.
The insecure items included an entire trailer, police said.
The van had a broken back window.
The driver was charged with several traffic offences, police said.
OPP reminds drivers to always secure items being towed.
Drivers are responsible for the vehicle and everything they are towing, and could be charged if any item becomes insecure and causes a collision, OPP said.
