Driver hauling insecure mini-excavator in Oakville charged

A truck driver is facing charges and his truck/trailer combination put out of service after being pulled over by Halton Regional Police in Oakville on Thursday.
The vehicle was stopped by Constable Marc Taraso while working with veteran traffic officers coaching new HRPS recruits on Commercial Motor Vehicles enforcement.

Upon inspection of the truck/trailer combination, it was discovered that the mini-excavator it was hauling was not properly secured.
The truck also had a missing wheel bearing hub cover and landing gear was insecure due to a missing pin. It was also found that the driver had an improper pre-trip inspection.
