Driver from Oakville faces charges after speeds of 178 km/h reached in Kitchener

A young Oakville man is facing a number of charges after the OPP clocked a driver doing more than double the speed limit in Kitchener.
According to Cambridge Ontario Provincial Police, the driver of the vehicle was recorded doing 178 km/h on Hwy. 8 southbound this morning (Sept. 12) before eventually being pulled over by officers.
The speed limit for that section of the highway is 80 km/h.
A 20-year-old from Oakville was subsequently charged with stunt driving (speeding in this case).
As well the driver, whose name has not been released, is facing a 30-day suspension of his licence and has had his vehicle impounded for 14 days.
