Police are looking for a driver who fled the scene of a fatal Hwy. 401 crash in Mississauga.
The two-vehicle collision killed a 29-year-old man from Cambridge early on Saturday (April 22), OPP said in a press release.
Around 2:20 a.m., a white 2018 Audi S5 was travelling westbound on Hwy. 401, in the collectors, at Mavis Road, in Mississauga, OPP said.
The Audi driver was travelling at extreme speeds when it collided with the rear of a white Mazda 3 travelling in the same direction, police said.
The severity of the impact caused the Mazda 3 to launch into a spin and strike a guardrail before coming to a rest, OPP said.
The driver of the Audi S5 was seen fleeing the scene on foot, police said.
The lone occupant of the Mazda 3 was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Portions of Highway 401 near Mavis Road were closed for several hours while emergency crews and investigators were on the scene.
Police continue to investigate and are looking to identify the driver of the Audi S5, OPP said.
Anyone who may have witnessed or have dash cam video of the incident is being asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
